A charge off is when a collection agency has simply given up hope that a creditor will ever pay a bill. This shows up as a negative mark on your credit also. However This is NOT gospel as most believe. These negative items CAN be removed usually with help from an attorney.
You can delete a charge off as shown right here:
I personally would not attempt to delete a charge off USUALLY what ends up happening is that they will reject any personal correspondence from a creditor due to the fact that either the letter was not sent to the right person OR to the incorrect address.
True Story:
Several Years ago I was at a Toyota dealership shopping for the car of my dreams. A brand new SUV.It was exciting to say the least my first brand new car. The whole process of picking out what options to the color, wheels and trim package. Anyway as we are wrapping up this deal the salesman informed me that a credit check would be needed. When the report came back it showed a BANKRUPTCY. I thought good lord I had never been bankrupt in my life. There must be some mistake.
As it turns out there was a mistake. The big 3 credit bureaus had mistaken my father for me (we shared the same name) It took an attorney to straighten out the mess.
The above report shows all the deletions from my report.
